Memorial Benefit Game disc
(uncataloged) |

|
VERY RARE - These uncataloged diecut discs are roughly 3" wide and were given out to fans attending a Memorial Game for Christy Mathewson's family in 1926. They were intended to by hung from a shirt button and have a hole punched at top. There was at least one if not more than one of these games played. One game was played on an off day at the Polo Grounds on Wed. July 7th 1926 between the New York Giants and the Washington Senators (full ticket picture). Note: a lot containing both the disc and full tix sold for $1,020 at Legendary's Dec. 2010 Auction (link to auction), and included a disc with the handwritten note "8-28-26" in pencil at bottom and may have been for a second game on August 28th 1926. |
