Clopay Foto-Fun

RARE - These self-developing photocards were issued ca.1938 by a Cincinnati plastics company named Clopay, who were more well known as makers of cheap window blinds. These attractive cards are known as Foto-Fun cards. Originally came with a negative, photopaper, and a frame to hold the photo. The frame is roughly 2-3/4" by 3-5/8" in size. The back of the frame has directions for the purchaser to develop the photo and display the photo in its frame. Most of the developed photos have a blue tint, but there are others known with a sepia tint. There are at least 2 different backs known, the more common one has a Dayton St. address, the other issued later listed Clopay Sq. as the address and originally has an ad for a shoe company on the tear away section. There are 93 different players known (Galan was the last one listed, 2007). |
